Electric Boat to Hire for Engineer Jobs in Connecticut

Great news for unemployed engineers: Electric Boat, stationed in Pfizer’s New London complex, has announced they will be expanding and hiring for engineer jobs in Connecticut.

The governor of Connecticut and the president of Electric Boat gathered at the complex to announce a preliminary expansion plan to make room for EB’s engineering workforce.

Beginning in July, Electric Boat will occupy two floors in the center.

Sonic Hiring for Fast Food Jobs in Connecticut

Sonic, the chain popular for its drive-in and inexpensive food, has announced that they are hiring for a variety of fast food jobs in Connecticut.

The fast food chain plans on holding jobs fairs in Wallingford on Tuesday and Thursday. They expect a large showing due to the economy.

Sonic is hoping to fill about 100 full and part-time positions for their restaurant on Colony Rd, among others. A second Sonic is planned for Manchester, although details are scant on the location and timing of the opening.

Private-Sector Jobs Added in Connecticut

Private sector jobs are becoming scarce, but this was not in the case in one state, where hundreds private sector jobs in Connecticut were added. For more information, go to www.ctjobs.com.

Jobs in Connecticut have overall been increasing.

Ninety-seven of the nation’s 100 biggest markets lost private-sector jobs between April 2009 and April 2010, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The exceptions were Honolulu, Hawaii and New Haven, Connecticut, which each added 1,200 private-sector jobs, and Charleston, South Carolina, which was unchanged over the year.
