Connecticut Jobs Remain Stable
Wednesday, July 30th, 2008While the nation as a whole is facing high unemployment and increasing job loss, Connecticut jobs are on the rise.
In June 2008, the State of Connecticut’s non-farm employment was 1,705,800, an increase of 3,600 jobs from the previous month. This is a gain of 5,900 jobs from June 2007. In the first four months of the year, Connecticut lost 7,600 jobs, and in the last two months has regained 6,900 of those jobs. The state’s unemployment rate remained at 5.4 percent.
According to a report by the Connecticut Department of Labor, seven of the state’s 10 major industries gained employment, two remained unchanged and one lost employment.
